We were delighted with Easton Angel's win at York on Thursday.

Nothing could really live with her or tow her in the race, so she found herself in front and did idle a little but in the end won cosily enough.

I see she's been quoted for both the Commonwealth Cup and King's Stand at Royal Ascot and Michael Dods will sit down with the owners and work out the best plan.

It was really pleasing and showed she will be a force this season. I thought over the winter she had got faster and she is all speed. If we want to best exploit her strength then you'd be looking at five-furlong races.

That said, she wasn't stopping at York and if six furlongs was in her compass then it would open up more options. It's an exciting one to mull over.

I have yet another double-header today, taking in Thirsk and then Doncaster.

I've picked out three at Thirsk, starting off with Dragon King, a horse we've always liked. He won at Newmarket last year and then was fifth in the Ayr Bronze Cup. It's his first run of the year in the Wharton Construction Handicap and won first time out in 2014 and 2015.

Goldmember has had a few entries this week and with the rain coming at Newbury, David Simcock has looked to Thirsk. He was eighth to Midterm on his debut last season and then reappeared at Newmarket, where he was ninth. Hopefully he'll come on for that and it's nice to ride for Qatar Racing. He runs in the justgiving.com/marcia-sanderson For Macmillan Maiden Stakes at 5.10.

Just Us Two looks to have a good chance for Robert Cowell in the Thirsk Races Next 13th & 14th June Handicap. He's won two of his races and should strip fitter for his seasonal debut at Lingfield where he did not get the clearest of runs despite it being a four-runner race.

On to Doncaster and the pick could be Barney McGrew. He is probably as old but was a Group 3 winner when at his peak so has always had talent.

I have been on him for his last two wins and he's on his joint-lowest rating and he's done most of his winning over today's trip of six furlongs in the Colemans Pizzeria And Steakhouse Handicap.

The Lockinge looks wide open and the soft ground is likely to rule out a couple of these or put paid to their chances. Dutch Connection is an interesting purchase under the new Godolphin regime and looks an exciting horse.

He has being placed twice at Group One level and, being by Dutch Art, may be able to handle these conditions better than the others.

Darn good filly

I highlighted what a serious prospect I thought So Mi Dar was when he won at Epsom and she blew the field away in the Musidora this week.

The Investec Oaks is building into a hell of a race, more so than the Derby at this stage, and while Minding was nothing but impressive in winning the 1,000 Guineas, I think I would side with Dar Re Sei at this stage.
