Medal-hungry Ryan Giggs has issued a stern warning to Manchester United's Premiership rivals - nine titles is not enough.

After eclipsing former Liverpool duo Phil Neal and Alan Hansen by clinching his ninth league championship this season, Giggs is out to create another piece of history at Wembley today.

Victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final would see the Cardiff-born star become only the fourth player to win the competition five times.

It would be some achievement, especially given the previous three - Arthur Kinnaird, Charles Wollaston and Jimmy Forrest - all completed the feat in the late 19th century.

Typically, Giggs will spend no time reflecting on his magnificent medal haul.

''I still feel like there is work to be done,'' he said. ''My immediate reaction is that I want to go on and win it again.

''That doesn't mean I don't want to celebrate, I just don't want to dwell on achievements.''

With Gary Neville missing due to an ankle injury, Giggs will lead United out today, the first time he has captained his club in a major final. And if United win his medal haul will equal Neal's all-time best mark.

Giggs added: ''Even after winning the league this season, I just want next year to come.

''I am already looking forward to playing in a season where we are known as champions and everyone refers to us as champions.

''Obviously I am proud of what I have achieved in the game and the trophies and medals that I've won, but there's plenty of time for me to look back on it when I've finished playing.

''I want to look forward rather than look back. Right now I'd rather think about helping the team achieve something else - our next trophy.''

The Red Devils have a set a new club landmark by having the best player in the world on their books, according to former Old Trafford star Clayton Blackmore.

That accolade has gone to Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

Now Ronaldo is hoping to add an FA Cup winners' medal to his collection after helping United regain the title.

Blackmore, who is a big admirer of the youngster, said: ''I do not think United have ever had the best player in the world in their team.

''With Ronaldo, it is all about experience. In the next couple of years he is going to get better.

''I have seen a massive change from last season. He was doing some great things but there wasn't as much end product.

''Now you are expecting things to happen all the time.

"That's how well he is playing. He is not showboating.

''Managers are having to work out ways of stopping him."
