WEST HAM (4-2-3-1):

Randolph 6; Tomkins 6, Reid 7, Ogbonna 6 (Jenkinson 42, 7), Cresswell 6; Kouyate 7, Noble 7; Lanzini 6 (Obiang 58, 6), PAYET 9, Moses 8 (Carroll 87); Sakho 8.

Subs (not used): Spiegel (gk), Collins, Antonio, Jelavic.

NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1):

5 Krul: Couldn’t have done anything with either of the goals, but didn’t seem to be communicating with his backline

6 JANMAAT: Was defensively suspect on occasion, but the fact he was Newcastle’s best attacker by a distance speaks volumes

4 Mbemba: Couldn’t handle the pace of West Ham’s counter-attacking and produced his poorest Newcastle display by a distance

4 Coloccini: Quite a few of his old failings reappeared as he found himself unable to keep up with Sakho and Moses

4 Haidara: Didn’t look comfortable for the majority of the night and got nowhere near Moses in the build-up to West Ham’s second

5 Colback: Tried to hold things together at the heart of midfield, but found himself fighting a losing battle

4 Anita: Couldn’t get to grips with West Ham’s counter-attacking, and was at least partially at fault for both goals

4 Sissoko: Another ineffective display – wants to play for a Champions League club, but is currently miles off that standard

3 Wijnaldum: Five games into his Newcastle career, and he is still to offer anything telling – time to give de Jong a go in his position?

4 Thauvin: Utterly anonymous on the left-hand side and was completely eclipsed by his former Marseille team-mate Payet

4 Cisse: Lacked service for long periods, but hardly helped himself as he remained static and failed to link up play

Subs:

De Jong (for Anita, 60): Tried to provide Cisse with some support, and at least tested Randolph with a late strike 6

Perez (for Thauvin, 60): Provided a bit of energy after his introduction, but couldn’t really threaten from a wide position 5

Aarons (for Wijnaldum, 79)

(not used): Darlow (gk), Lascelles, Obertan, Gouffran.

Man Of The Match: DIMITRI PAYET – Newcastle have signed a host of French attackers in the last couple of years – might the best one have slipped through their grasp?
