HARROGATE’S John Parry will tee off in his second US Open in three years later today.
Parry will be in the fourth group to tee off at Chambers Bay along with American pair Joshua Persons and Jack Maguire at 3.11pm (UK time).
He earned one of the 11 spots on offer at Walton Heath last month when he shot 66, 69 at the Surrey course to secure his passage to the Washington State showpiece.
Parry said: “I’m becoming a qualifying expert. I’d rather not have to do it but I do seem to be getting used to it. I grew up playing courses like Walton Heath, though, which always helps me. I’m over the moon.”
Parry finished a credible 28th in his first US Open two years ago at Merion, where Justin Rose clinched the title.
He added: “I loved it at Merion. It was different to anything I’d ever played and it will be the same again at Chambers Bay. I really liked the atmosphere last time. I think I was playing well, I fed off having 10,000 people watching.”
