CARL JENKINSON could be set for a move to Sunderland after an agreement was reached with Arsenal over a season-long loan, according to a report.
An article on The Mirror’s website and written by a reporter close to the Gunners claims that the Black Cats have struck up a deal for the England Under-21 international.
West Ham have also been keen to take the right-back to Upton Park for a further loan stint after last season’s spell, but Sunderland appear to be more willing to pay a reputed £1.5m loan fee.
The Northern Echo has regularly mentioned Jenkinson as a target of Dick Advocaat’s so it would be no surprise to learn that progress has been made. Sunderland are yet to comment.
Arsenal are keen to keep Jenkinson on the Emirates’ pay-roll and want to hand him a new contract, but Arsene Wenger is happy for him to head out on loan for another year.
