COUNTY DURHAM’S Jordan Nobbs has been named vice-captain of England Women.
The Arsenal midfielder led England to a third Cyprus Cup trophy in Wednesday’s final against Canada, the first time she has deputised for South Hetton’s Steph Houghton, who missed the game through injury.
Nobbs, who’s Dad, Keith, played almost 300 times for Hartlepool United, has 20 caps and has scored three goals for her country since her debut against Italy in March 2013.
The 22-year-old, who started her career at Sunderland Ladies, will hope to play at big part at this summer's World Cup finals. England are in Group F with France, Columbia and Mexico for the tournament, which starts on June 6.
