NEW signings Jozy Altidore, David Moberg Karlsson and Valentin Roberge were all on the scoresheet as Sunderland romped to a 13-1 win against a local select XI in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their Italian training base this afternoon.

Stephane Sessegnon, who started the game in attack alongside Ji Dong-won, claimed the opening five goals in the first 35 minutes as Sunderland’s players predictably outclassed their amateur opponents.

With Vito Mannone and Cabral also in the starting XI, Ji and Seb Larsson were also on target before the interval.

Wes Brown, Altidore and El-Hadji Ba were three of seven players introduced into the fray for the second half, with goals from Karlsson, Roberge and Altidore taking Sunderland into double figures.

The local XI pulled a goal back when substitute goalkeeper Keiren Westwood conceded a penalty, but Danny Graham and Mikael Mandron scored before Karlsson’s second goal of the afternoon completed the scoring.

Sunderland: Mannone (Westwood 46); Gardner, O’Shea (Brown 46), Roberge, Colback; Larsson (Mandron 70), N’Diaye (Vaughan 46), Cabral (Ba 46), Johnson (Karlsson 46); Sessegnon (Graham 46), Ji (Altidore 46).
