NEWCASTLE UNITED have terminated Spanish striker Xisco's contract by mutual consent.

Xisco joined the Magpies in September 2008 from Deportivo La Coruna in a deal worth £5.7m, but the striker has barely featured during his four-and-half-year spell on Tyneside making just nine appearances and scoring once.

The 26-year-old has spent the majority of his Newcastle career on loan with spells at Racing Santander and Deportivo.

His last competitive appearance for the Magpies came as a substitute in the 6-0 win over Aston Villa in August 2010.

He is now expected to sign an 18-month contract with Spanish side Cordoba.
