AFTER all the negativity about our NHS and Darlington Memorial Hospital, I feel obliged to write about my own experience.
I have had two stays in hospital since March, and I cannot think of one thing that was not done to make me more comfortable and reassured while I was in great distress.
Every member of staff, from those who served drinks and really very good meals to those who took great pride in keeping the ward in pristine condition to nurses, doctors and my consultant, were all very important in making everything work like a well oiled machine.
Staff shortages were shrugged off as nurses made sure everyone had what they needed, and older patients were helped to eat and drink with the utmost of patience.
Thank you Darlington Memorial Wards 14, 34 and 44 and to our wonderful NHS because without you I would not be at home feeling better.
Mary Midgley, Aycliffe Village.
