RE Christopher Wardell’s memories of Wimpy (HAS, July 1). I also enjoyed Wimpy burgers, as did my wife and young son, but we frequented the one on Bondgate, in Darlington, a few doors before Pattinsons Photographic Shop.
They were produced on a hot plate in view of the customer, along with onions and hot dogs, and delivered to the table.
I now visit Burger King rather than McDonalds and have never tried KFC so have no knowledge of its food.
If I put in an appearance at Burger King and it is before 11am, I buy their hash browns – small discs of crunchy-coated thick spud finely chopped and dipped in sweet chili sauce. Good with any burger.
Try them Christopher, you may find they are better than the fries and enjoy the experience.
