THE taking of scrap is a scourge affecting many residents’ lives.
Vans and small lorries cruise the back lanes of Bank Top and other parts of Darlington.
A lookout on the top looks over the walls spotting any “scrap” items.
Elderly people find this intrusion frightening as they are concerned that strangers have been in their yard and what might have happened if they had opened their door and confronted them?
I would urge all residents to contact the police on 0345-606- 0365 and report any suspicious vehicles.
If residents have any security concerns they wish to raise with the police then come along to your local Police and Communities Together (Pact) meeting.
The next Pact Meeting for Bank Top is on Wednesday, April 13 at 6.45pm in the community room at Wesley Court (off Yarm Road).
Veronica Copeland, Darlington.
