REGARDING your article about the £10,000 allocated to the Stanhope church hall (Echo, March 28).
I think Councillor John Shuttleworth has lost the plot if he suggests money should be spent on roads and footpaths.
Why have car owners been paying road tax all these years?
To pay for road maintenance via the county council highways department.
Does he not listen at the county council meetings?
The hall at Stanhope is a great outlet for people of the Dales with all the functions they put on, more so in these hard financial times.
As a parting shot, may I ask Coun Shuttleworth how many functions he has attended in the church hall. I can count the times on three fingers.
Harry Hail, Stanhope.
