MOST people know that Barnardo’s is the UK’s leading children’s charity, but did you know that we also specialise in fostering and adoption?

The whole of the UK is experiencing a shortage of foster carers.

Barnardo’s is no exception.

This year, an estimated 1,300 more carers are needed in the North-East alone.

There is still a misconception about who can foster.

You can be single, married, divorced, living with someone, be any sexuality, race or religion.

We assess all applications on merit.

The main criterionto meet is that you must be able to offer a child aloving home and a room.

We welcome applications from anyone, but are particularly looking for people who can care for sibling groups, black and minority ethnic children, disabled children and those with challenging behaviour.

Barnardo’s Fostering and Adoption North-East is holding its UK Family Placement week between next Monday and February 6.

Please see our website barnardos.org.uk or call 0191-492- 9000 for more information, or to register your interest.
