MORE snow is on the way. I wonder how many companies with vehicles on the road have taken steps to meet this challenge?
Taxis operate all year round and they use the same tyres.
They should be forced to fit snow tyres in winter.
The same should apply to private motorists. Insurance companies should insist.
During the recent cold snap bus companies in Darlington managed to keep going, apart for one early finish.
But why do I see three or four buses driving in almost nose-totail, apparently operating in convoys?
Two days ago, I saw a number 13 bus enter Darlington town centre. Minutes later, I came across three more parked at a bus stop on Neasham Road.
As for the gritter crews, all I can say is well done. I’ve watched them gritting and plowing snow at 3am to clear the bus route.
Let’s hope others are prepared to spend a little more for safety reasons.
David Preston, Darlington.
