WHEN the Labour Party was in Government, it allowed the destruction of manufacturing jobs in the Spennymoor area.
A sound UK economy requires a strong private sector, creating wealth, as well as sensible funding for the public sector.
The Labour Government tried to camouflage manufacturing job losses by increasing public sector jobs.
I was dismayed to hear in Parliament this week that nine out of ten jobs created during Labour’s period in Government went to the South.
The coalition will promote geographical growth and I have written to Nick Clegg and Vince Cable, asking them to direct new jobs to the North-East.
I have put Britain first by supporting the coalition.
Councillor Ben Ord, Chairman Spennymoor Liberal Democrats
