I FIND it hard to take in that the authorities have allowed three Pakistan cricket players, accused of match fixing, to return to their homeland (Echo, Sept 11).
Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamer are all being investigated along with businessman Mazhar Majeed, for allegedly being involved in a £150,000 scam.
Surely, due to the financial figure that is alleged to have been paid, all three players should have had their passports confiscated and told to stay in the UK while the investigation continues?
I am a great believer in innocent until proven guilty, but if convicted of any offence, what are the odds of these players returning to England to face the consequences?
All four should have been remanded into custody.
