REGARDING recent letters about Darlington MP Alan Milburn. Besides his numerous jobs, he is one of the highest claimants for expenses among the North-East’s MPs – more than £620,000 in the four years from 2004-05 to 2007-08 as well as his salary.
But wait for it, along with all the other MPs standing down at the next General Election he will qualify for his golden handshake as well.
Given that we are in this current financial crisis isn’t it about time these perks were drastically reduced, particularly when ordinary people are being forced to take wage cuts or worse still – losing their jobs?
How can anyone have five jobs as well as being a politician? He must be Superman or superhuman.
