IN his preview for the North- East Economic Forum which I chaired (Echo, Dec 5), Chris Lloyd correctly quoted me as saying the family farm I used to visit at Lynesack near Bishop Auckland, in County Durham, was the muckiest farm I had seen.
Understandably, this comment has upset the farmer, my uncle Jack Forster.
Please can I make clear that I was not in any way criticising the cleanliness of his well-run farm.
It was simply that as a young boy from suburban London, I was vastly impressed by the byproducts of dairy cattle and sheep.
My visits to the farm have left me with memories I treasure to this day.
