I HAVE written many times to The Northern Echo about the state of our bus services, or rather the utter lack of them. It even led to my writing to all and sundry who have influence to change things, including Prime Minister Gordon Brown and ex-PM Tony Blair.

I have also been fobbed off time and time again on this issue of totally pathetic bus services, which a lot of us in County Durham have to put up with, or, as where I live, knocked off completely.

However, one young man did take notice and even travelled right across the county to talk to me about my problem bus service. He was very sympathetic and supportive and set about tackling the issues.

He was standing as an Independent candidate in yesterdayfs elections for a County Durham unitary authority and, if elected, said he would do his utmost to help.

His name was Kenneth Stubbs, from Newton Aycliffe.

Unfortunately, I could not vote for him myself as he was standing in the Aycliffe East division, but I would have highly recommended him.

I was really impressed by his compassion, integrity, honesty, skills and determination to help me.

Mrs N Staff, Kelloe, Durham.
