WE read with interest the article “A dose of confusion” (Echo, Jan 6), written by Peter Barron about the distribution of the Covid vaccination.

While we have every sympathy with Peter’s 89-year-old mother regarding whether or not she will receive her second vaccination, at least by getting the first vaccination, she has some protection from the virus.

It would be good to spare a thought for the many over 80s who have not yet received their first vaccination.

My husband, who is 86 and has a lung condition, and I, who am over 80, have yet to be given a date for the first vaccination. We know people who are to have their second vaccination this weekend and in view of the vaccine shortage and staff shortage, this seems to be grossly unfair.
