IF any councillors agree to support the go ahead with the building of a huge amount of houses in the Skerningham area of Darlington, they are totally not thinking of the people living in this area.

To even build this scheme without a suitable road link to the A1 would be a nightmare for drivers and the safety of adults and children will be put at risk. The congestion particularly at peak times would be unbearable.

When York built its ring road years ago the first day it opened it was too small and this has been the case since.

We made a huge error building the Haughton Rd throughabout which was a disaster. Look how easier the traffic flows now without it.

Darlington is a pleasant place to live. Building these mega-large estates will kill the personality of our historic town.

And we haven’t even mentioned destroying the stunning scenic landscape and beautiful wildlife habitat in the Skerningham Woods area.

Getting this right is not easy, we know, but we have to get it right for future generations. Darlington people, please have your say and pull together to stop this happening for your children and grandchildren.

Paul Bielby, Darlington.
