DURING World War Two, civilians would be legally ordered to move to other parts of the country, under an ‘Essential Works Order’.
Many young women got sent to remote locations, to work in ammunition factories etc.
I wasn’t aware the above order was still in force, so I wonder at the legality of forcing folks to move who are on housing lists.
My understanding is that folks have been told, who need housing “We’ve arranged accommodation in town X – it’s 300 miles away, but you go or we remove you from our housing list.”
Can it be legal to Shanghai free people in this way? There urgently needs to be a legal challenge.
