AS it continues its onslaught on the High Street, Amazon’s “commitment to the region” (Echo, July 11) is, I suspect, testament rather more to the empty spaces and comparatively low rates of the North-East than anything else.
Where else would a company be able to afford to occupy over half a million square feet of land?
