IN the annals of modern history, Africa, the peoples of African descent and people of colour have had no greater friend or supporter than the United Kingdom (with perhaps the exceptions of Cuba, the former German Democratic Republic and the former Soviet Union).

The vitriolic rhetoric of the current Black Lives Matter movement is as damaging as it is divisive.

Take a knee? Not me. What I might take, however, is a page from their own misguided manifesto and start putting the interests of “my own” community first.

If that makes this life-long Socialist a racist, then so be it.
