I RESEARCH both military and civil aircraft crashes in County Durham, including Weardale and Teesdale, and I am in the process of writing a book.
I am asking the readers if they remember a Second World War RAF fighter crash on Ettersgill Common in 1941.
Also, during the First World War or just after an aircraft crashed near Rookhope.
Around 1918 an aircraft either crashed into or was stuck up in a tree near Station Farm in the Winston area, or so I am told. Can anyone tell me if this incident occurred?
In 1948 a light aircraft landed on the Demesnes at Barnard Castle. Did anyone take a photograph?
Any aircraft crash or glider forced landing photographs and newspaper cuttings would be copied and returned.
