WHILE the professional footballers union are trying to avoid a 30 per cent cut in players wages, some earning hundreds of thousand pounds of week, the players themselves should hang their heads in shame when over in Spain the Barcelona players have willingly agreed to a 70 per cent cut.
At a time of crisis the big money earners should have donated all of their wages to the NHS until this is over – they could all afford it and still have millions left.
Gordon Taylor with his stance has not helped. He should have agreed to the wage reduction immediately and contributed himself, considering he is paid a fortune.
