IT can’t be just my street up near Bank Top station in Darlington that has a problem with parking and yet there are no wardens to assist.

I’ve done a Freedom of Information to see how many residents’ parking permits the council sells a year. Last year, it sold 1,591 permits making £63,640 – and there’s no patrols to protect the people who buy the permits.

There’s been a car parked in a permit bay for three days now without getting a ticket.

It’s cheaper to park without a permit in a bay and get two tickets a week than it is to park in the council car park. Where does our permit money go to?
