ARE we not looking at the issue of allowing councils to charge extra for rubbish collections from the wrong angle?
Should they instead be charging the companies which ply us with junk mail day after day, some of which is fairly heavy? If we don't ask for it, we should not receive it.
The majority of mail I receive is junk mail. Most people have the same problem, so why should we have to pay for something we don't want? It's almost the same with food packaging - the better and brighter the box, the more sales appeal. Also, the size of the boxes has increased over the years, hence more weight.
So, before another tax is levied on ordinary people, think who should be taxed first.
