HOW sad to see that the policy applied by Adopt Berkshire is apparently to “place children with parent from the same background” (Echo, Dec 7).
Back in the 1960s we had good friends who deliberately chose to adopt children from different ethnic backgrounds. English, African, Malaysian and Caribbean.
They were all brought up in the same way, in a loving caring home and went on to achieve success and become valued members of the community.
Who was doing the most to promote racial harmony?
Bill Bartle, Barnard Castle
