ADDRESSING a conference of the DUP, the Conservative Party's Northern Ireland counterparts and allies, in 2018, Boris Johnson MP stated categorically that a Conservative government would never create a border in the Irish Sea.

Last week 2019, Boris Johnson, now PM, signed a negotiated agreement for an orderly withdrawal from the EU which he knew included the creation of a border in the Irish Sea , threatening stability in Ireland and the support of his ten Brexit-supporting DUP MPs – to gain their support, his predecessor Theresa May had paid over £1bn of public money for them to prop up her government.

Such highly questionable contentious words and actions, from someone who is supposedly seeking support for a negotiated agreement for an orderly withdrawal from the EU and bringing the UK together provides the reason why so many do not trust Boris Johnson. It fully justifies the extension which has been requested by MPs from across the House so that they have time to study and question any details of the agreement he has made.
