MP MARK FIELD has been suspended for handling (no pun) a severe lack of security at the Chancellor’s speech (Echo, June 22).
How did a person walk through all security to within five yards of Philip Hammond?
When I saw it on TV, my first thought was that terrorists will soon be masquerading as climate protestors to gain “legitimate” access.
Well done Mark Field for stopping her. Was it too rough? I don’t think so. The sooner he is re-instated the better.
The controversy exists because it was a woman. If a man had been stopped and escorted out would there be an issue? Of course not.
Security at events attended by high profile politicians must be improved.
