WHAT a state the NHS seems to be in. I live in Kelloe. I tried to make a doctor’s appointment (as advised previously by the doctor) yesterday.
After hanging on the telephone for 20 minutes I finally spoke to what seemed to be a slightly embarrassed receptionist.
Knowing that there would be a two or three-week wait I offered anytime, any doctor and any surgery (there are three surgeries in the practice in different villages).
There weren’t any appointments in the next two weeks which she said was as far ahead as the diary goes.
The only option I was given was to ring every morning for a cancellation.
Is this the normal situation?
I shudder to think the consequences if someone has a serious illness.
I am not criticising the staff but there needs to be something different organised.
Robert Hewitson, Kelloe
