ON Wednesday in Bishop Auckland I saw a gentleman I knew taking a notice from his car windscreen. He had been given a £70 fine for having the wrong arrival time on his disabled parking clock.
This lovely man who has worked all of his life has had a stroke from which he has now made a recovery so that he is able to live at home with a reasonable quality of life. I know the wardens have a job to do, but I felt this was harsh, and this man’s confidence would be completely shattered.
Could a note have been put on his car to remind him to make sure that the correct time was displayed next time?
I hope this gentleman appeals, and has this fine cancelled.
