I AM enraged by the actions of our members of Parliament, their arrogance is unbelievable. They have lost all credibility.

We were taken into the European Union on a downright lie – federalisation disguised as a mutually beneficial trading agreement.

Having waited for years, like many others, for a referendum, to take back our sovereignty from the clutches of the EU, I happily voted to leave, naively believing the result would be honoured, as stated by both the Labour and Conservative parties prior to the referendum.

Will the result of the recent EU elections perhaps show our MPs the anger and frustration felt by all who voted to leave?

Both the Liberal Democrats and the Labour Party are hell bent on overturning our democratic vote.

Parliament is full of Remain MPs, our own Durham MP, Roberta Blackman-Woods being one such person, in spite of her constituency voting overwhelmingly for freedom from the EU.

For many years, our Parliament has been held up as an example of democratic government for other countries to strive to emulate.

We are now held to ridicule by the rest of the world. How very sad.

Make no mistake, if this “democratic vote” to leave is denied us, then democracy in this country is dead, a thing of the past.

Lastly, I just hope that our eventual departure from the EU comes sooner rather than later.

I am now 82 years of age, and hope to see our departure before my departure from the land of the living. I live in hope.
