THE success of English teams – Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea – reaching the Champions League and Europa League finals is being well covered.
These may be English clubs but they are certainly not English teams as they consist predominately of foreign players.
Contrast this with the Glasgow Celtic European Cup winners of 1967.
All the team and the manager were Scottish. Indeed 11 of the 12 players in the final team (only one substitute, a goalkeeper, was allowed) were born within ten miles of the club's Parkhead stadium.
The exception was Bobby Lennox who was born some 30 miles away in Saltcoats.
Certainly some achievement.
