IT has been announced Harrogate will be the trial area for Universal Credit managed migration pilot.

The Department of Work and Pensions says it will be rolled out in a safe and controlled way, and you don't get much safer than Harrogate.

Harrogate and its surrounds have, according to the Sunday Times Rich List, more millionaires than anyone else in North Yorkshire.

A town with almost full employment and facilities to cope with the challenges Universal Credit may bring.

A job centre with limited footfall means you will receive immediate attention, have access to a computer that actually works and have the freedom to pick and choose whatever job you want.

Universal Credit may work well in jobs-a-plenty places like Harrogate but in other areas, especially Teesside, the Universal Credit story will be quite different.

In my opinion this trial is nothing short of a Mickey take.
