ON a Radio 2 phone-in this week, there was a story of how a Teesside man helped two complete strangers, from Scotland, who had been involved in an accident on the A19 on their way to see a dying mother in hospital.
He drove them over 200 miles, refusing any recompense, to the hospital in Cambridge, just in time for them to pay their last respects before the mother passed away.
In contrast, a little while ago, in a well-to-do area of Darlington, a man walking his dog late at night witnessed a car accident, literally right in front of him.
Although he gave the police who attended the scene significant details of what he had seen, he refused to give a witness statement to the police.
As a result, the innocent party in the incident suffered financially. The guilty party gained a considerable sum of money.
Should a reader recognise themself: shame on you!
