IT is time this Government woke up to reality and responded positively to the Youth Strike 4 Climate that took place last Friday.
These young people, protesting at the inaction of people in power in the face of environmental catastrophe, deserve praise and support, not punishment. The statement from Downing Street criticised children, saying they should be in school so they can "develop into the top scientists, engineers and advocates that we need to help tackle this problem".
But they are already advocates. Climate change is not a problem to get round to tackling some time in the future when the Government feels like it. It is a crisis that needs tackling now.
