I AM so glad that Vince Crosby (HAS, Dec 18) agrees that the referendum was not a constituency vote as many MPs seem to think.

Where he goes monumentally wrong is that it was not a county vote either. It was a referendum.

That means one person one vote.

Probably the most accurate and honest form of democracy.

However, there does seem to be a section of the British electorate who do not believe in majority decisions unless it goes their way.

A dangerous stance to take, since once the precedent has been set, it makes it easier to overturn other decisions in the future.

Something that might not be so keen on at a future date.

Perhaps Mr Crosby meant a “country” vote which is in fact what it was.

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt!
