THE police have recently, according to reports (Echo, Dec 11), caught, stopped, questioned, tested, and arrested individuals driving over the legal limit having alcohol and drug substance within their bodies and also those driving with no legitimate driving licence, insurance or MOT.

The police then take the vehicle from them and have it put into a compound, until they turn up, make a payment to have it returned back into their ownership.

Unfortunately a lot of them just go back and commit the same crime, the police re-arrest them, and it just goes on in an ever decreasing circle.

In my opinion the compound should have a crusher, immediately a vehicle turns up it should be put into it.

The vast majority of drivers abide by the rules, those who don’t, according to the insurance companies, increase the legitimate drivers’ costs substantially. Take illegitimate drivers off the roads and everyone would be batting on the same wicket. How many more people are going to be injured or killed by drivers who should never have been on the roads in the first place?
