I HAVE read with interest that the Government may allow local councils the powers to fine motorists who park partly on footpaths ie £75 as they do in London.
This will be a big cash income. In my street alone there are approximately 45 cars who would be guilty. Forty five times £75 equals £3,375 – not bad for 30 minutes work for a traffic warden.
It is difficult at times for push chairs and prams to get through on the footpaths.
However this may result in residents turning their front gardens into car parks.
And with all the new estates the roads are not designed even for two cars to pass each other.
