SEEING images of the idiot diving from High Force (Echo, Oct 16) reminded me of long ago when a mate, Peter Martindale, went to Turkey where he watched a professional diver dive into the Bosphorus from a very high bridge.

Peter said he “lost his way” in the wind and hit the water with a mighty smack splitting himself practically in two, and he was dragged out dead!

The guy who dived in at High Force needs medals for both bravery and stupidity in equal numbers. I only hope people like him are not pushed to the front of the queue in Accident & Emergency if things go wrong.
