PLANNING permission has been refused for a convenience store on the old Aclet site on Watling Road, Bishop Auckland.
Combined with the fact that the residents do not want another convenience site, my suggestion would be to turn it back into a family friendly pub with a football theme and call it the Two Blues.
A previous letter from Michael Rudd (HAS, September 18) suggested a museum including football memorabilia could be housed in the pub – hopefully the supporters of the football team would use the pub on a regular basis.
A lot of pubs have closed in Bishop Auckland over the last few years and I am sure if the pub was a friendly, family food outlet the people of Bishop would support it.
It has an ideal spot with a large car park and in the middle of a large estate which has no local pub.
