IF Brexit is going to be such a disaster for manufacturing, especially in the North-East, how is it that there are five companies bidding for the building of new trains for the Metro, to be supplied by 2021? (Echo Business, Sept 18).
The bidding companies are Japanese, Canadian, Spanish, Swiss and Australian.
Some are already looking into support services and for firms to join their supply chain. In fact, the Swiss group Stadler Rail UK "has ambitious plans to grow within the UK, especially the North-East."
These companies don't seem to be worried about Brexit.
