MANY Cleveland residents will view with concern the police watchdog figures showing more than 3,000 violent crimes go unrecorded each year (Echo, Aug 7).
Whilst Matt Part from HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services has confidence that Cleveland Police have the right team to respond to the changes and make changes for the better, others may disagree.
Will there be more calls from people wanting the Cleveland Police Force to be disbanded and merged with Durham for those north of the Tees and North Yorkshire for those south of the Tees?
Once again the jury will be out on the future of the Cleveland Police as this part of the report was inadequate, but other sections were recorded as good.
One hopes the rank and file don’t get demoralised and the hierarchy get to grips with violent crime recording.
