THROUGH the medium of your newspaper may I express my support and admiration for all of the RNLI crews, including Joe Winspear and Ben Laws from the Whitby station, who have been stood down after mugs of an allegedly sexual nature were discovered when an RNLI boss visited the lifeboat station (Echo, May 4).
I have supported the RNLI for decades but I have now ceased my support because I believe it has become a bloated and wealthy organisation which is employing a large number of managers on fairly high salaries.
These people are interfering with the brave and essential work carried out by the crews who risk their lives going to sea.
I am sad to react in this way but I do not feel I can continue to provide financial support to a charity that probably doesn’t really need the money and has lost sight (and the balance) of what it was created to do.
