I AM writing in reply to Doug Porthouse (HAS, Mar 6).
We recently had exactly the same call from someone claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs.
Having had bogus text messages supposedly from HMRC before, we knew this was a scam as HMRC told us they do not do business over the phone, only by post, though initially it did give me a scare.
Although it was supposed to be very official they let themselves down by saying at the end of the message ‘have a blessed day.’ Not so blessed if you really do have a law suit being filed against you. So please be very careful and don’t answer any of these calls.
