DAVID LINDSAY (HAS, Feb 6) says he would welcome Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister, yet has announced his intention of standing against North West Durham Labour MP Laura Pidcock.
Some contradiction there, methinks.
However strongly Mr Lindsay feels about how the Teaching Assistants have been treated by Durham County Council, I can think of only one occasion when a “single issue” independent has been elected as an MP since WW2.
He is entitled to stand of course, but I confidently predict he will lose his deposit.
Laura Pidcock made an inspiring and passionate maiden speech after being elected last year, and she has made several telling interventions since then.
I am sure that at the next election she will be returned with an increased majority.
