IN MONDAY’S Hear All Sides Ralph Musgrave makes the completely untrue assertion that Vince Cable was in favour of bank deregulation.

In truth he was making statements in parliament well before 2008 and the financial crash, warning of the disaster which subsequently followed. For his troubles he was mocked as a foreteller of doom by both Gordon Brown and George Osborne, who until days before disaster struck was urging more and faster deregulation of the banks.
