VJ CONNOR’S letter about his father telling of his experience at Dunkirk (HAS, Aug 4) reminded me of my dad.
He never talked of his time in the Coldstream Guards during the war apart from one time he and two others went looking for a stove while they were holed up somewhere in Germany.
They found one and carried it back to the rest of the company – it would have been hot food and drink that night.
